Up for sale, a 2019 Rickenbacker 4003 in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, case candy, and factory paperwork. A limited run instrument with a Matte Black finish (not to be confused with glossy Jetglo), this iconic instrument has a rich midrange character and distinctive tonal color. Channeling plenty of power and articulation via the neck through maple body, this 4003 has a wonderfully sweet tone, weighing 9lbs 5oz. The growl and low end richness of this bass is fantastic, with the sustain that only comes from a neck through body design. This bass plays very well with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, professionally setup by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with optimal action and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a chunky D-shaped profile carve with plenty of shoulder and a substantial feel, measuring .890″ deep at the 1st fret and .910″ at the 12th. The 1 11/16″ nut width has ideal spacing for easy fretboard navigation, and the stock medium jumbo fretwire is virtually unplayed and sports perfectly rounded crowns. The gloss-finished rosewood fretboard sports triangular pearl inlays which extend all the way to the fretboard edges. The bass plays well in all registers, and both truss rods are responsive and optimally adjusted. On the headstock, the clover button tuning machines turn smoothly and the “Rickenbacker” logo truss rod cover is intact.

All of the electronics function flawlessly, and the Hi-Gain pickup pair has healthy, balanced output wired to stereo Rick-o-Sound jacks. The bass also features the push/pull Tone knob which engages a filter consistent with the wiring of ’70s Ric basses (accentuating the upper midrange and thinning the signal a bit). The chrome hardware is positively gleaming including the bridge, pickup bezel, and pickup cover, and all plastic parts are near mint as well. A Rickenbacker treble bezel is also fitted between the bridge pickup and large chrome-plated surround. There’s barely a scratch on the satin Matte Black finish.

The original Rickenbacker molded hardshell case is included, along with the original unopened factory paperwork and case candy.
